growing team, and our Tax and Audit--Manager role in just the
latest in our growth plan! You'll be the first Tax and Audit
Manager for CDP, which means you will help build this role from the
ground up and influence our future as you manage the tax and audit
process for our parent company and all subsidiaries. This position
will be based out of our Newport Beach, California office.--Your
role will involve:Managing annual financial audits for the parent
corporation.Overseeing annual financial audits for LIHTC
partnerships (total for fiscal year 2021 was 23 audits and 7
mini-audits; will increase for 2022 and beyond).Overseeing tax
return preparation and filing for several parent entities and all
subsidiaries including LIHTC partnerships (total for fiscal year
2021 was 69 tax returns; will increase for 2022 and
beyond).Analyzing and identify tax issues such as minimum gain,
partner capital, and taxable income.Reviewing third-party
management accountants' monthly, quarterly, and annual financials,
ensuring proper journal entries and overall accuracy.Meeting with
management companies and auditors annually to debrief on prior
year's tax/audit season and plan for next year.Maintaining strong,
collaborative relationships with internal and external
stakeholders, including:--In-house CFO, Director of Finance,
Controller, and accounting staff,--External auditors and tax
preparers,--Investors' tax team and asset managers,--Nonprofit
partners,--Third-party management company accounting staff.Staying
abreast of new and changing tax regulations, determining how these
will impact the business, and make recommendations and decisions
with the best interest of the company in mind, while thoughtfully
balancing investor requirements. Managing questions and inquiries
from investors and non-profit partners, skillfully responding in a
timely manner.--If the following describes you, we want to hear
from you: Solid understanding of real estate tax, including
compliance, due diligence, acquisition/disposition planning and
structuring, and strategic analysis.Deep understanding of tax
regulations and audit processes, with the experience to anticipate
audit inquiries and the knowledge to respond factually and
thoughtfully. A strong customer focus, with dedication to meeting
the expectations, needs and requirements of internal and external
customers, successfully gaining their trust and respect.Comfort
around executive management, understanding how senior leaders think
and work, using this to determine the best way to get things done.
Ability to successfully interface and build strong cross-functional
relationships with all levels of internal and external partners and
team members, finding common ground and solving problems for the
good of all.Ability to work successfully both independently and
with others, building professional working relationships based on
mutual trust and respect.Strong planning and organizing skills,
with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while
adhering to deadlines.Ability to meet deadlines and provide prompt,
insightful responses to internal clients, your staff, and external
partners.--Strong written and verbal communication skills (in
English), allowing for clear and succinct communication in a
variety of settings (phone, in-person and email), and with people
of various backgrounds and levels, both internally and
externally.Thorough understanding of MS Office and Google
Workspace, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.--Minimum
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or
tax-related field.Minimum of 5 years' experience with business tax
as a tax accountant, tax analyst, tax preparer or auditor.A minimum
of 2 years' experience working in or with the real estate industry.
Experience with affordable housing tax credits would be a strong
advantage.Experience with partnerships, corporations, and
pass-through entities.CPA license, or eligibility to sit for the
CPA exam preferred, but not required.Powered by
