Job Description Job Description The Natural History Museums of
Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) include the Natural History Museum in

we serve throughout Los Angeles. The NHMLAC is seeking a
Coordinator, Public Programs (Youth Programs) for our Education &
Programs department. The Coordinator, Public Programs (Youth
Programs) position is responsible for assisting in the development,
implementation, and supervision of in-person and/or virtual
recreational programs primarily for youth audiences along with the
Public Programs Team. Responsibilities for this position include,
but are not limited to: Supports Managers in the production of more
extensive programs, primarily youth programs, such as Adventures in
Nature Camp, and STEAM programming. Provides day-of support for
other public programs such as Festivals, First Fridays, and
evening/weekend programs as needed. Develops or revises curriculum
for use by camp instructors, and in alignment with camp themes for
youth programs. May coordinate daily in-person camp operations
including ensuring supplies for each aspect of the program, weekly
coordination with all relevant Museum divisions/departments, and
handling other operational matters. Assist camp instructors and
counselors as needed. This may include teaching participants in the
Adventures in Nature (AIN) program; supporting AIN staff on
activity development/facilitation, and camper behavior/classroom
management, and helping coordinate meetings with Research &
Collections staff and other internal or external visitors for camp
groups. Supports the development of STEAM and Youth programs as
needed. This position has the following requirements: Bachelor’s
degree in Education, History, Natural Sciences, Child Development,
or Liberal Studies preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of related
experience, formal or informal curriculum training and facilitation
experience preferred. A personal vehicle, a valid California
Driver's License, and personal automobile liability insurance to
drive to offsite meeting locations. Must be welcoming and
personable and possess the ability to interact effectively with
children of all ages, their families, clients, staff, and other
Museum visitors. Must have reliable transportation in order to be
punctual and dependable in the care of children. Must have a
reliable computer and secure internet connection. Familiarity with
Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Canva, preferred.
