As a Controls & Automation Engineer you will be responsible for
supporting Veolia North America facilities by providing advisory,
design, troubleshooting, and implementation services for SCADA,
PLC, plant networks, and related systems at those sites. You will
also have a key role in implementing corporate plant data
initiatives through maintaining, expanding, and enhancing the
corporate data Historian and related systems. The ideal candidate
will have deep experience with a variety of SCADA, PLC, Historian,
and other automation systems and will have hands-on experience
advising sites on SCADA needs and implementing solutions.
Work with sites to review and document current SCADA, PLC, and
control systems setup and provide recommendations for system
upgrades and to bring systems into compliance with Veolia OT, IT,
and cybersecurity standards.
Assist with management of strategic site SCADA projects, including
writing technical requirements and RFP documents and interfacing
with site, integrators, IT and other technical personnel to ensure
projects are completed successfully.
Work with IT and sites to implement IT shared infrastructure
services for OT (remote access, backups, antivirus, networking,
data and user management, etc).
Help maintain and assist with implementation and troubleshooting
for site and corporate Historian systems.
Work with sites and stakeholders within operations, engineering,
and IT to configure new data sources, points, calculations,
screens, data integrations, and improve functionality of the
corporate Historian systems.
Provide support, troubleshooting, and small project support to
sites for critical SCADA, PLC, Historian, and other control system
related issues.
BS (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred.
At least 5 years (10 years for candidates without a BS or
equivalent) work experience in the industrial control system field
implementing and supporting SCADA, PLC, Historian, and/or related
systems is required.
Implementation and support experience with SCADA and/or DCS systems
is required (experience with Wonderware and FactoryTalk View
preferred).
PLC programming, configuration, and support experience is required
(experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs strongly
preferred).
Thorough understanding of plant network communications and SCADA
and OT cybersecurity concepts is required.
Experience with OSIsoft PI Historian or Wonderware Historian
database is strongly preferred depending on the assigned site
(experience with other data historians is also a plus).
SCADA Project Management experience as well as experience writing
requirements documents, system specification documents, and/or RFPs
for Historian or SCADA project work is preferred.
Thorough understanding of control panel design and wiring and plant
instrumentation is preferred.
Experience with databases and SQL queries, PC/server configuration,
thin client systems, and/or VMware is a plus.
Experience in the Incineration, Industrial Waste, Water/Wastewater,
and/or Energy industries is a plus.
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks/projects and
prioritize work effectively to meet project deadlines.
Up to 30% travel required (within the United States and Canada)
depending on the need of the assigned site. Must have a valid
passport.
Work will generally be in office environments. Occasional work in
active plant environments will be required (which may require the
wearing of appropriate PPE, standing and/or walking for long
periods of time, and/or carrying/lifting of computer and automation
equipment)
