It's in this spirit that we are currently looking to add a skilled Manager Applications Development of Low Code Automation to our team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Manager Application Development of Low Code Automation, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success, taking on a role that is central to many strategic initiatives, including building new business lines, creating digital-first platforms and adopting new ways of working. You will manage a team that develops and maintains low-code automated processes for product maintenance and process improvements. You'll provide leadership and guidance to the team as they collaborate with business partners and technology teams from early product inception through product launch and beyond.

In this role, you will manage a team that automates product and fund maintenance to keep our products competitive through timely updates. If you've managed a team through major technology changes, used innovative solutions to deliver solutions and challenged the status while managing cultural changes, you're exactly who we're seeking. What You'll DoManage and oversee the Appian low-code, digital process automation platform, building out CoE capabilities as usage expands and increase automation across the Retirement Solutions Division using low code platforms and tools

  • Manage annuity product maintenance updates (rates, commissions, rider prices, etc.)
  • Partner with key business stakeholders in product, sales, finance and operations to understand current and future business needs and provide sustainable and cost-effective technology and process solutions, effectively using internal and external resources
  • Coordinate with portfolio managers and product owners to groom and prioritize backlogs so teams are always focused on the highest value business outcomes
  • Manage self-organizing teams in building accountability to achieve strategic goals while developing broader skills and learning mindsets
  • Develop and refine relevant metrics to monitor and report success toward KPIs
  • Coalesce direct and indirect resources in evaluation of new opportunities for innovation in delivery of services to improve speed to market while maintaining operational integrity
  • Ensure optimal use of employee resources and strategic partners on activities that best utilize their skills and capabilities
  • Assess technology demands for sizing, CBA input, capacity/resource planning and update systems used for tracking and reporting; monitor and report on project health and provide management oversight and communication on changes moving to productionFactors for SuccessBachelor's or higher degree in a relevant discipline; 10+ years' experience, 5+ years' managerial experience with technical teams delivering automated solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing business process automation solutions using low/no-code technologies such as workflow management, RPA, OCR, NLP (natural language processing) and machine learning; understanding of the DevOps mindset
  • You enjoy working with business partners to identify solutions to complex problems; you are not an order taker; you ask 'why' questions and solve the right problems
  • You interact effectively with, and influence at all levels, building collaborative working relationships
  • You have a servant-leadership mindset with proven skills in managing, mentoring, and developing employees
  • You drive toward goals with tenacity, determination and self-motivation
  • You are experienced in vendor management, procurement, budgeting, forecasting and capacity management
