We're actively seeking a talented Director & Actuary - Risk Management to join our Risk Management/ALM team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site, hybrid or 100% remote.As a Director & Actuary - Risk Management, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by effectively designing and implementing asset and liability management strategies. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of five people in the Institutional division.How you will make an impact:Responsible for the Risk Management, ALM, Economic Capital and risk projection functions for Pensions (Pension Risk Transfer, Defined Contribution Lifetime Income - DCLI, institutional QLAC), Stable Value (Stable Value Wrap, Health Savings Account), and Spread Lending products (FABN, FHLB, FABCP).Calculates, analyzes and manages risk associated with institutional products, including interest rate risk, credit risk, insurance risk, cash and liquidity risk, etc.Lead team to perform capital markets and actuarial research and studies to investigate underlying risk drivers of the products and asset portfoliosTakes initiatives to develop and analyze risk metrics and risk mitigation strategies for both assets and liabilitiesLead and perform asset adequacy analysis for all product linesLead the team to perform experience study on asset related assumptionsSupport new product development from risk management perspectivesDevelops tools to enhance inforce management of assets and liabilitiesProduces and reviews reports supporting Risk Management functions and look for ways to streamline the reporting processKeeps monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables on track for ALM reportingWork collaboratively with PLI (Pacific Life Investment) and other functional areas within the division, driving asset and liability strategy discussion, asset-in-kind strategy, etc.Lead and develop a staff of actuarial professionals by providing effective review of their work, insight, guidance and oversightThe experience you will bring:Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related degreeFellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)8 or more years of actuarial experience, including at least 2 years with risk managementExperience managing a team of actuariesThorough knowledge of annuity business, investment, financial markets and risk managementExcellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skillsTakes initiative with strong problem-solving skillsWhat will make you stand out:Knowledge and experience working with economic capitalExperience with financial modeling systems, particularly Prophet, preferredMore reasons to join:At Pacific Life, the work we do matters.
