Organizational Overview Simon Scholars is a unique scholarship program that begins at the end of a student's sophomore year in high school and continues through the completion of college. It is designed to help students facing difficult life and economic circumstances to excel academically and socially so they can successfully complete a 4-year college degree and pursue a meaningful career. Position Overview Simon Scholars is poised to grow the number of students served in the next five years, and we are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and strategic Director of Alumni Relations. Reporting to the CEO, this position will develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Alumni program designed to create and sustain strong connections and facilitate lifelong dialogue with the Simon Scholars Alumni. Key Responsibilities Identifies, cultivates, and stewards Alumni to build lifelong connections and facilitate continued engagement and support for the Simon Scholars Program. Develops and manages the Simon Scholars Alumni Association to provide career enhancement and development opportunities for our Alumni. Successfully plans and facilitates social events, reunions, board retreats, workshops, webinars, and focus meetings to keep our Alumni connected and engaged. Creates and assembles Simon Scholars gift packages to incentivize Alumni. Develops and manages an effective volunteer system that supports the objective of engaging Alumni in meaningful internship and networking opportunities and establishes a Volunteer Corps to serve as mentors for our younger Alumni. Inherently understands and has experience serving low-income and first-generation college students, and facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of and respect for those of other cultures or backgrounds. Manages Alumni database to ensure records are current. Coordinates and executes surveys for management and reports detailed results as needed. Produces quarterly Alumni newsletter to highlight achievements and milestone events of our Alumni community. Serves on committees relating to Alumni Relations, and serves as a liaison between Simon Scholars and the community. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships and programs with Universities, including Admissions, Career Services, Parent and Family Programs, Student Affairs, and academic colleges and departments. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in education or related field from a four-year college or university required; Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred. 5+ years of successful and progressive experience in alumni relations, communications, advancement, or a comparable role. Proficient in Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) Gmail, Google Hangouts/Meet, Google Classroom) and Zoom. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to create and develop programs from the ground up. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to represent the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces, and to promote existing and new programs and/or policies. Strong database management skills and ability to produce detailed reports as requested. Salesforce experience is a plus.
