ICS - Technology Portfolio Manager
Grant Thornton is seeking a Technology Portfolio Manager to join
our team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Portfolio Manager is accountable for the alignment of the
Enterprise Transformation (ET) technology portfolio (applications,
services, databases, etc.) to business capability needs balanced
with portfolio rationalization. The Portfolio Manager is
accountable for the evolution of that technology portfolio
commensurate with the evolution of the HR (People and Community)
strategy.
The Portfolio Manager combines a detailed understanding of business
plans with a knowledge of the existing technology portfolio to
develop value-oriented technology plans which guide both proactive
and reactive decision-making based on regular business cycles,
unforeseen demands, constraints, and dependencies inherent in GT's
business environment.
In collaborative partnership with business partners and functional
managers in Enterprise Transformation, the Portfolio Manager
identifies creative, cost-effective solutions to enhance
capabilities. To accomplish this, the Portfolio Manager draws from
knowledge not only of existing service-line tools, but also of GT
enterprise-available tools, software, and development capabilities
which may solve for the need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build trusted and effective relationships with business partners
and facilitate improved communication between Advisory and ET.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the ET
service line such as planning, data collection, analysis,
prioritization, reporting, and governance.
Define and implement portfolio management processes to support
evidence-based decisions making on ET investments.
Lead technology portfolio management, backlog management,
pre-project planning, cost estimation, investment management, and
business relationship management activities for the Advisory
business line.
Support capital expense planning for Advisory, including
development of business cases and analysis of alternatives.
For the Advisory-aligned portfolio, evaluate technology acquisition
and run-state cost estimates, identify/analyze/compare alternatives
(including buy vs. build), and assess potential trade-offs to
support decision making working closely with the ET Architecture
team.
Evaluate investment performance of the portfolio against stated
goals, objectives, and requirements in partnership with ET Product
Management and ET Governance.
Keep and manage a backlog and roadmap of version upgrades,
enhancements, use cases, and needs for the assets within portfolio.
Understand and communicate planned roadmap into ET's overall
planning cycles.
Facilitate changes to business plans from decisions driven out of
governance boards, councils, and committees.
Maintain accuracy of information by documenting the key attributes
of every application aligned to the portfolio, especially
functional scope definition and active use cases served by the
application.
Maintain backlog of enhancements, upgrades/version releases, needed
changes, requested integrations and any other effort that impacts a
specific application.
Assist the business in matching the right technology solutions to
their business plans in a way that aligns with the business
planning cycles of the business.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business related field is required. Master's
degree is preferred
Minimum 5 years experience in IT Management (preferrably product
management)
Previous Oracle and/or HR systems product management preferred
Strong understanding of IT operating models and experience working
with multiple teams to develop strategies and deliver solutions
Proven history of successfully managing business relationships
Highly developed strategic planning skills
Proven leadership experience, including knowledge of approaches,
tools, and techniques for gaining the cooperation and support of
others
Six Sigma and/or Agile experience is preferred
Experience working in different software procurement and deployment
methodologies
Knowledge of industry trends preferred
The base salary for this position in the firm's Denver, CO and
Sacramento, CA offices only is between $110,700 - $184,500.
The base salary for this position in the firm's Manhattan / New
York City, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Orange County, CA and San Diego, CA
offices only is between $119,600 - $199,300.
The base salary for this position in the firm's San Francisco, CA
and San Jose, CA offices only is between $127,300 - $212,200.
