Job Description:
St. Mark Community Preschool is actively seeking a qualified
Preschool Assistant Director who will help oversee the daily
operations and administration of the preschool program. Candidates
should be experienced in the field of Early Childhood
Development.
A bit about us: St. Mark Community Preschool (SMCP) is a play-based
preschool in Newport Beach. Our idyllic setting includes several
outdoor play and learning spaces, including our amazing Nature Yard
to encourage and facilitate the children's growth outdoors as much
as inside the classrooms. As an outreach ministry of St. Mark
Presbyterian Church, SMCP takes pride in being a welcoming and
inclusive preschool. We are proud to send our graduates off with
not only the academic skills they need for kindergarten, but also
with a sense of personal accountability, kindness, and
compassion.
We are looking for a person who supports our play-based philosophy
and is eager to embrace the rich traditions that make St. Mark
Community Preschool the magic place that it is. You should possess
excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as amazing
organizational skills. You should uphold the vision of the
preschool with pride and ensure that the preschool meets the
minimum standards set by the state while promoting and encouraging
higher professional standards as set by NAEYC and CAAEYC.
General Overview of the Preschool Assistant Director
Responsibilities:
* Help to oversee the daily operations of the Preschool; able to
oversee the preschool program in the Director's absence.
* Keep current on Title 22 regulations and ensure the Preschool is
in compliance.
* Recruit, train, and oversee/manage staff.
* Respond to inquiries and tours to provide information to
prospective families, maintain enrollment waitlist, and complete
the registration process with families.
* Maintain children and staff forms, documentation, and files.
* Maintain and schedule necessary maintenance and upkeep of school
grounds.
* Maintain and oversee quality care and programming for all
classrooms and children.
* Provide customer service and maintain overall satisfaction of
staff and families.
* Adhere to school policies and procedures; implement changes as
needed.
* Manage financial transactions, working budgets, and
fundraising.
* Schedule and provide on-going training and professional
development for teachers.
* Oversee the planning and preparation of school events.
* Communication in person and in writing; Examples: flyers,
newsletters, emails, etc.
* Additional duties as determined by the needs of the
preschool.
Preschool Assistant Director Requirements:
* Early Childhood Development education and/or related field (12
ECE unites; additional preferred)
* Child Care Administration education (3-6 units or willingness to
complete)
* Prefer at least 2 years' experience in Administration.
* Prefer at least 2 years' preschool classroom teaching
experience.
* Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and
administrative skills.
* Love for children, a passion for teaching, and the overall goal
of being proud of what you help provide for teachers, children, and
families.
* A desire to work as a team with the Director and staff to meet
the needs of our students and their families.

Additional Requirements: Current Driver's License, ability to pass
a general health screening, TB test, criminal background clearance,
current immunizations, child care mandated reporter training,
sexual harassment, and Healthy Schools Act pesticide training; all
trainings can be completed after hiring. Must be 18 years of age or
older. Any additional Title 22 licensing requirements.
Part-time position: 30-35 hours per week between 8:00-2:00pm,
Monday through Friday. Additional hours, scheduled meetings,
trainings, and school events as needed.
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour; depending on qualifications,
education, and experience.
