Summary: Pacific Life seeks a seasoned Sr. Database
Administrator to architect and implement enterprise database
solutions, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and
scalability of our data infrastructure.

As a seasoned Sr. Database Administrator, you'll play a key role in
Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by architecting and
implementing enterprise database solutions, ensuring optimal
performance, reliability, and scalability of our data
infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as SME for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and other
database technologies.
- Deliver technical expertise architecting, building, monitoring,
and optimizing the performance of our Oracle & SQL Server database
servers while aligning to our organization goals.
- Build and apply strong security architecture with industry best
practices, consistent patching, updates, and audit log
assessments.
- Stay current with present and emerging database technologies
and utilize new features when applicable in the
environment.
- Automate reoccurring complex workflows to increase
efficiency.
- Setup and configure Oracle databases with High Availability
configurations such as Oracle Data Guard.
- Responsible for database backup and restore functions including
scheduled tests of DR availability.
- Builds, monitor, and reports on database environment
performance and availability metrics and takes appropriate actions
to implement best practices and optimize performance.
- Provide after-hours DBA support for production databases during
weekends or late nights when required.
- Support application development teams in their production
deployments.
- Participate in developing standards for data access and
database administration.
- Work with Oracle Support for system issues that require product
support.
- Prioritize resolving database and database server related
security vulnerability findings in a timely fashion.
- Create documentation/procedures/troubleshooting guides/runbooks
on all service areas.
- Provide resource and capacity planning and assess our DB
environments.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
experience.
- 8+ years of professional working experience with MS SQL and
Oracle databases with strong experience in the design, development,
integration, testing, and implementation.
- Expertise in Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Familiar working with cloud-native database services in
AWS.
- Database administrator certifications are highly
desirable.
- Expertise in Performance and SQL Tuning/SQL Profiles for Oracle
Databases.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to assess database
performance.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and
ability to work under pressure.
- Understanding of business processes and the importance of
change management.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both laterally and up to
influence decisions and actions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work well independently or in a team setting.
