We're actively seeking a talented AVP Technology Strategy and Planning to join our Chief Information and Digital Office (CIDO) team. This role can be onsite in Newport Beach, CA (Hybrid) or remote.

As an AVP Technology Strategy and Planning, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by working within the technology organization as well as the broader enterprise to ensure that the office of the CIDO has a clearly messaged and actionable strategy which shows how the Technology and Digital organization will support the business today and into the future. CIDO strategic scope encompasses the overall Pacific Life Enterprise, Divisional, and externally influenced strategies and requires an external view of the technology landscape and relevant industry trends. This role manages strategy development and refresh activities, transitions strategy to actionable roadmaps and plans, oversees execution of strategic imperatives, and defines and measures success of the overall program.

The ideal candidate will present a strategic mindset, bringing a balance of definition as well as execution of the strategy and the resulting strategic imperatives.

How you will make an impact:

  • Ensure that the office of the CIDO has a clearly messaged and actionable strategy which shows how the Technology and Digital organization will support the business today and into the future. Facilitate the vetting and socialization of this strategy through the various levels including the team, the Management Committee, key business unit stakeholders, and ultimately the Board of Directors.
  • Ongoing ownership and management of execution against the strategic roadmaps, as well as oversight of the ongoing prioritization of the backlog of work against strategic imperatives. Translation of strategic vision to actionable plans.
  • Knowledge of enterprise and division strategies as well as external landscape to ensure ongoing alignment of the technology and digital strategy.
  • Definition, implementation and tracking of measurements of success against strategic imperatives.
  • Engagement and oversight of communications and change management efforts as executed for CIDO at the strategic level.
  • Traceability between strategic drivers, past and future, to ensure that, as technology and business strategies continue to evolve and market conditions shift, the necessary processes and tools are in place to evaluate impact and update accordingly.

    The experience you will bring:
    • 15+ years of progressive strategy or corporate development experience, including collaborating with senior leaders in managing teams that support the achievement of strategic goals and objectives
    • 15+ years of progressive and relevant technology experience. Must be technically credible and relevant to interact with teams across the technology landscape and be able to make the right design decisions and technology choices
    • 15+ years of Life insurance and/or Financial Services industry experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Information Technology, or related field
    • Experience leveraging external consulting to achieve actionable outcomes
    • Ability to work autonomously, setting an agenda in line with company priorities and driving high-impact, high-quality work product through collaborative and individual efforts
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills
    • Driven to solve business problems creatively and effectively with analytical approach to assess them and to structure solutions
    • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, negotiations and program management
    • Experience managing strategic technology projects, with significant bottom-line impact.
    • Influential in aligning resources enterprise-wide to get work done through the power of influence and indirect management of resources
    • Possesses a solid understanding of Change Management and Communication capabilities and the use of those capabilities as part of service delivery and project management

        Base Pay Range:

        The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

        $168,200.00 - $210,200.00 - $294,300.00
