The Sterile Processing Supervisor supervises of the care, cleaning, handling, and reprocessing of instruments and equipment. Monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies. As the Supervisor, this role provides direction to the Sterile Processing staff. Essential Functions:Participates in training new employees and offers guidance and assistance to less experienced staff. Coaches and councils' staff and conducts performance evaluations. Communicates updates and information with staff. Acts as a liaison to surgical staff to facilitate maximum efficiency of patient care. Reports "near misses", potential and actual errors to Manager. Maintains staffing schedule for assigned personnel ensuring efficient coverage of the department. Performs other duties as assigned such as: The role of an Instrument Technician responsibilities as needed, which would include responsible for care, cleaning, handling, and reprocessing of instruments and equipment.Decontaminates instruments and equipment to hospital and regulatory guidelines.Assembles and wraps trays for sterilization following procedures and loads and operates sterilizers. Uses knowledge of instrumentation blood and body fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization to performs quality assurance monitoring. Documents according to policy and procedures. Coordination and assembly of surgery case carts. Accurately completes inventory lists for trays and surgeon preference cards, signs, and dates. Review's instrument and inventory supplies, restocks, proactively identifies supply/instrumentation needs, gathering of supplies needed for a specific case, and assists with O.R. sterilization processes. Knowledge of supplies, instrumentation, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization. Performs other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceRequired: High School Diploma or GED. Two years minimum experience in Sterile Processing.Knowledge of surgical terminology, instrumentation, and Case Cart pulling.Preferred: Supervisory or lead experience. Certifications IAHCSMM CHL Certification preferred.CRCST Certification preferred.
