Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Air Operations Specialist is responsible for negotiating and contracting group flights within budget while maintaining quality to meet client expectations. This person will be responsible for maintaining proprietary data systems, managing deadlines, tracking and evaluating airline spend and coordinating with other departments. The role involves direct communication with external airline representatives and internal staff at all levels, reporting directly to the Air Operations Director. This person will work closely with Air Operations directors and managers to execute overall strategy for the department and update leadership on airline market trends and opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Procure and negotiate group flight contracts for approximately 500 groups per year using online booking tools, correspondence with airline group desks and Amadeus GDS
  
• Manage $7-8 million per year in inventory
  
• Continuously renegotiate fares and stay informed of airline contracts, sale fares and market trends
  
• Manage airline and internal deadlines and monitor spend using proprietary data systems
  
• Coordinate with Sales and Account Management departments to confirm and quote flight requests and guarantees
  
• Coordinate with Program Management department regarding flight requirements and provide budgets for custom itineraries
  
• Prepare status updates and financial reports for management team
  
• Stay informed on airline market trends and strategize procurement opportunities
  
• Action incident reports throughout the travel season for flight related issues
  
• Provide support on other projects and tasks as requested by department management

  Requirements:
  
  • 
    
  • 5+ years of professional services work experience
    
  • Proficiency in GDS System with 3-5 years' experience, Amadeus preferred
    
  • Advanced knowledge of airline contracting processes
    
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
    
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills
